Michaels Scotland trip; some pics

Postby Michael » Wed 21.09.2005, 20:19

The original plan was to do a 'mille miglia' in Scotland but in the end Kitty and I managed to do over 1,500 miles, mainly on fantastic Scotish roads :D

But not just the fun of top down driving in mainly fair wheather made our trip so great.
Even more pleasant were the invitations and the friendly company of a couple of LEC members and their partners. It was really great to meet you guys in real life!

Kitty and I thank JohnW, Rambo, BigErch, Ron, MikeI, Grahamec and Dave for their hospitality and warm friendship.

A couple more pics (not all of them!) can be found on: http://photobucket.com/albums/y107/kittywerkman/Scotland%202005/

I'll post a short 'write up' of our trip in the next couple of days.

One thing is allready certain. With the roads as they are in Scotland you guys in the UK don't need a Nürburgring at all :D

Cracking photos Michael.

Particularly liked the Hadrian's wall road photo :)

I think we need another LEC scotty camping trip
4+ hours stuck in a damp bucket seat with a mad Irishman at the wheel - Deep joy!!!!

Great photo's Michael/Kitty - show's Scotland's ever changing scenery/weather at it's best. I think the one at Innerleithen with the 5 of us is worthy of a position at the top of the LEC page. Especially as the focus is crisp - unlike my"whisky induced" one.

Michael,
nice pics. How did the Royal Lochnagar distillery tour go? The guide seemed to be very friendly and a real character - an ex-distiller who now runs the tour groups. I hope you could understand his Aberdeenshire accent.

Did he let you have any special tastings, or just the usual?

John :)

It was quite OK John. It is surprisingly small, allmost like Edradour I guess.
Petty they were not operational because of cleaning and we did not get to see the actual warehouse.
Tasting was all right, the guy let us taste a Distillers Edition, Double Malted 1988 Lagavulin before we bought it. Mmmmmm..........
Kitty drunk most of mine (and had a bit of difficulty navigating right afterwards  )
