My first elan!!!

Well after much deliberation i decided on this one!! 1990, 52000 genuine miles, FSH, immaculate condition and loads more extra's. After looking all over the west i finally found this one three miles from my house. Hope you like

Extra's include full leather seats, immaculate original lotus rims, Sony minidisc headunit with a 6DC disc changer, uprated speakers, Dennon Amp and a Custom Stainless Steel Exhaust system. Do you agree that this is a nice example for my first lotus??

Is that a G reg? If so it should have the misty back plate cover and may have opera glass lights!

hey everyone, thanks for all of your comments. Im not sure about the misty back plate cover as i know it has had two cherished plates previously so the cover probably has been lost or misplaced and do not have a clue about the opera lights!! I hope you all dont mind but as time goes by i could be asking alot of questions as i have never owned an elan before and people are telling me they spend alot of time in the garage!

Your headlights - do the raise in one motion? Are the lights fixed in place in the pods, or do the pods raise and the light pop out?
If it's the latter, you have opera lights.

using terms you probably aren't familiar with. The Operglass lights are roll up after the pods raise where the newer design it is all one fixed unit.
The numberplate cover was only on the earlier cars also, IIRC they stopped around 1992?? Good for steaming up and protecting your licence
I'd like to see more of your interior!

Unfortunately i cant supply any photo's at the moment as i dont actually pick it up until friday as it is having an oil change and a cam belt change. As soon as i can i will post more detailed photos of my new beast.

Congratulations mate, it's taken me till 31 to get my first Elan so good on ya, lovely colour. I wanted
a silver one for a couple of years but 'almost' got seduced by a silk Red one at the last minute.
Never seen the front number plate on the bonnet before, are you gonna keep it there or move it to it's original location?

Defenitly yes
The car looks beautiful. A Elan in this colour looks very elegant!

Prior to VIN 6300 all cars (bar a couple; 6221 and 6277) were fitted with the "Frame & Flap" headlights - commonly known as Opera Glasses. From then on we've had the single pivot, Pod mounted variety (Service Bulletin 190/23 refers).

For those who are interested once i collect my car and get a few pics circulating i will post ones of the opera glasses. If indeed it has them, im in two minds to keep the plate where it is as it is the location of the old Lotus's but they do look good on the bumper. I want something a little different, i had done that by buying an elan as most corsa driving boy racers could never dream of being able to afford one but i then want to stray from the pack of elan owners and make it mine!!
