Yeah... I can see myself fitting one of these to complete the exhaust on my car. Currently it is 2 1/2" from the j-pipe back. I included a picture of the custom funnel which replaced the pre-cat. I believe I read earlier that this is a 2 1/2" pipe- from the awful picture below, does that mean that all I would need to do to fit would be to cut the funnel off at the correct position and add a flange to match the stiffy coming down from the turbo- then bolt them together and- voila?

If so and if this has a positive effect on the turbo, me likey...

matt, your spot on mate, just cut the funnel off and weld a flange on.

Haven't volunteered for anything at Stonleigh yet, as I've damaged my back and don't want to let the side down at the last minute.
Would be really p*ssed off to miss out on both that and the stiffy, though, so if a deposit would secure one.....

Stevo, can your man make provision for an O2 bung (the "bolt" screwed into the top of your OE piece), as we in the states need that for the car to function as well as anyone in the UK with an S2 Elan? In other words, all Elans originally fitted with a catalytic converter will need this as our engines won't run without an O2 sensor. Thanks, Matt

yes matt, i talked to him about it at the start but i was waiting for an order for an s2 or fed before pricing the addition of the nut. i don't think it would be much of a problem or cost much more if at all.

Thanks Steve. Has anyone fitted this yet? Does it clear the A/C compressor & all other stock parts. Do the bottom 3 bolt holes in the triangle flange line-up with the bottom of the original precat outlet's 3 bolts? (if they do it will bolt to the rest of my current exhaust system) If someone has this on your car: Do you notice a performance increase? If you are running high boost, is there less boost creep?

A lot of questions I know, but I'm trying to mentally justify the purchase.

O2 sensors have a special thread - M18 x 1.5. Not sure if ours are the same, ESM should be able to confirm :wink:

I can supply limited Qty of bosses FOC if needed. These are shaped to fit Dia 54 pipe - easy to modify for this application

funny you should ask that. i picked it up today and will test fit it this week to check all the clearances. they will be ready for stoneleigh on the 13th of november.

stiffy update.......

i droped off my turbo/downpipe gasket today for c+c to send off to have the flanges lazer cut. should have them soon and will fit and dyno in 3weeks.

Are u fitting the stiffy u`r self? If so do we have to remove the turbo and how difficult is it? Maybe u could do a weeeeeee right up on fitting u`r stiffy LOL

no problem monty, im planing on supplying it with fitting instructions and a 19mm flame shaped carbide burr to port the wastegate so its worth while taking the turbo off.

s2 and fed spec cars can have them supplyed with the boss for the sensor thingy. where do you'se want it?

Kenny Broon has just removed and welded up my downpipe as there was a huge feckin crack in it ! So may be up for wanging a stiffy on. :wink:
