In fact I think it's the best aftermarket wheel I've seen.

Well, thank you all for the kind comments. :)
I didn't have a photo of the whole thing, but you get the idea (the bottom bit's round too).
Fubar, at the time it was fitted (in 2000), Momo did a boss kit for the Elan. No more, I believe.
Sy, the green thing's my Donington ticket from this year. I took the photo in March and put it there so's I wouldn't forget it.

If you take off the stock SE Nardi wheel you will find it has a boss inside. Not sure of airbag ones tho'.
All you then need is an adaptor to be able to fit a Momo. These are available on eBay for around £10.
FWIW I think Nardi use the same pitch as Mountney / Personal / Raid et al so for these you may not need an adaptor.

I´m searching for a good alternative too. Even dunno if I have the same dimensions...

The Raid Daytona only costs 800+ if you choose the biggest one with 340mm diameter... I know there are the instruments..., but if you have already smaller ones driven like the smallest airbag-Wheel in the world
Image

The undercarriage (? shocks, Wishbones, suspension...?) is such as good, that a smaller wheel would transfer even more finer feelings from the road to the cockpit... and it would be more racier :) so at the end, I would say, you even get quicker :D

ok why don´t we put all kind of information together?

the stock ones of the "family"

without airbag:

So we have the nice looking aftermarket solution of John_W without airbag and

attached a one called F1 Type Removable Steering Wheel?

any more?

They have also 280er ones, which haven´t already a TÜV-Approval :(

Any suggestions more?

Momo Racing Line

And yes, the smaller wheel gives a greater feedback from the road and "feels" better. Though at 6' tall I can't see the tops of my gauges without dipping my head. A bit annoying on the highway with no cruise control.

Sorry Fubar :( Its only called "F1-removable-Steering-Wheel". Its from a spanish Ebay-Elan, where the former owner could write better english than me, but obviously even not much enough... He hasn´t noticed it...

It seems to me nearly like an elise one... But i don´t realy know. Sorry :(

It was a air/fuel meter I put together, but never put in a proper box/location.  Don't have it anymore, and hope to do something a little better looking for the "radio delete". Maybe another gauge or two?

Funny you should mention that Dave...Here's another idea I've had on my 'it'll never get done list', to replace and remodel the top cover of the steering column to house a couple of gauges?...(excuse the shabby photoshopping  )

Now Brian. if you could model it with a vertical array of LEDs between the dials for optimal gearchange...?

I guess you could mount all kinds of things there? Having consulted the manual, it seem that the steering wheel has to be removed to get the cover off, so something that fits over this could be a better option? I also thought of doing a similar thing with the large oval cover on top of the dash?...Good spot for a small GPS unit?

The colours are abit off in the Photo 'cause I took the shot in my garage. The colour actually matches quite well. The idea is there, though. The 2 bonuses from the install: Its a way nicer wheel and its still a lotus part #. :-D

It appears to have facilities for an airbag but this one doesn't.

Thank you Dave :D

Could you do one Piccie taken from the drivers place, please? Are there any restrictions to the sight of the instruments?

And have installed kia-Instruments and an extra enginestart-button? 8)
