Hi all,
there is a nice fellow who "published" top gear episodes from 1989 and 1990 on the Bittorrent P2P, and the episode 2 from 1990 includes the testing of the M100 !

BTW it s 175 MB, maye someone has the software and abilities to cut the M100 part "out" of the episode.

(For those new to the bittorrent network, you should use AZUREUS or Bittorrent or any other client, but do NOT use "UseNeXT", that is rubbish !)

The file you find there is a ".torrent" file, something like a "file identification" file, it is very small. On the Bittorrent P2P network you need this to download the "real" file.

I use Azureus, a bit heavy on prozessor and memory because it uses Java, but very fast downloading. You can download Azureus at http://azureus.sourceforge.net/.
You need to install both Azureus client and Java Runtime.
But you can use any other Bittorrent client if you wish to.
Maybe others have more experience with other clients.

Once you have client installed you load the ".torrent" file and then the client software looks on the network to download the "real" file (in this case the top gear episode) onto your PC. Once it is finished you have it on your PC.

This is a good way to share files, even if they are monstrously big. Maybe Sy could post the CDROMs this way. If not, I could do it. The problem is only of you have a volume restricted broadband access (or even analogue modem).

Thats the plan, but think it needs to be smaller, got to convert to a useable format then cut out the 20mins that aren't relevant then will hopefully have it down to about 20-30Mb.

Still on working in it......

Ok, quicker than I thought I think I've got it down to about 25Mb.

I can probably stick this on my site short term, but can someone else take it longer term?

Is anyone else able to make out the number plate on the silver Elan as it pulls away right at the end, I'm wondering if it might be mine

I'm 3 away from the number plate on the red one. Which is interesting actually, as I'm lower (394 to 397) and that was apparently a pre-production model.... what does that make mine???

Just as a hint that they wont say YES.

azureus, bittorrent and emule are a bit akward software (and no need to virus check BTW, azureus is even open source), but at least you "host" very big files, and I mean really BIG at your PC. your are talking about reducing the Elan video to 25 MB and even need to slice it for hosting.....
If you look at mininova they are sharing the quite a lot of top gear episodes. I have got them all ! downloading them in 3 or 3 weeks, no problem. And I share them. that means that the next one who wants them not only downloads from one "host" but from many, and therefore the download speed is quite high. in 5 days I have downloaded 11 GB. unattentedly.

The OCRed manuals I have done will shared that way mostly because I too dont have too much webspace, files are big and as far as I can I dont want copyr infr material on my domain. on P2P I dont care.
