Dear Members of Lotus Elan Central:

My name is Algirdas M. Liepas and it appears that I have been successful in my quest to find an M100. I hope to have the transaction completed and the car at its new home in Colorado by the end of the year.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you all that my decision to acquire an M100 was affected to a large degree by this web-site "virtual club/community". Without the level and degree of dedication that you all show to this car and marque, I seriously doubt I would have taken the plunge and purchased an M100.

I would also like to extend a special thanks to those members I met at Stoneleigh this year where the M100 was the featured car. You all were very gracious in allowing me to sit in your cars and to ask you an endless series of silly questions. Thank you again for putting up with me.

In closing, LEC and its members truly are a class act and this organization is the example for other marques to follow. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the cause in some meaningful way.

I wish you all the best this Christmas season and much joy and prosperity in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Algirdas M. Liepas aka Al Liepas

Costas:

No, it is not (depending on your point of view). It is Lithuanian. But, the president of Denver's Greek-American Community invited several members of Colorado's Lithuanian-American Community to attend one of his community's festivals and he told the audience (myself included) a Greek folk tale about one of the ancient Greek tribes becoming disenchanted and their leader taking a rock in his hand and stating "I will throw this rock and in that direction we will walk until we reach water, and there we will settle." He threw the rock and the people marched off and settled on the shores of the Baltic and became the Lithuanian people. He referred to the people of that tribe as being the "people of the 'raketa' ". I don't know if this folk tale is true or not, or perhaps he was just going out of his way to make us all feel welcome, but I do recall there being a natural friendship between me and my Lithuanian-American friends and our school mates who were Greek-Americans.

Judging from your car's horsepower and torque specs, it would not surprise me if you were a member of this long lost tribe-the people of the rocket!

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!

Sincerely,

Algirdas
