Dear Tony,Liz, Doug, Simon,
Though not having had much time lately to participate in forum discussions, I have followed with (in hybernation mode) distance awaiting the time for completing my second elan.
What struck me over the last 12 months were the RIP and Crash stories. (schurch,enright13, dico, nitroman)They are filed in 'General' in the forum. We could either create a virtual graveyard from those vehicles we had to scrap. It is a countdown after all. In five years time at this site we gently need to start and look at elan owners which their own privat museums to get a glimpse of elan M100, then passing the 20 year mark.
Alternatively we can add a topic 'immortality since (date). It allows others to remember and get inspiration from the effort and work put into an elan project and for previous owners to look back with pride. Can also be an example for others to follow the same threads. If this is all to 'morbid' we could create an all time hall of fame of elans (3 places) (not owners, but cars ok?) according to the following criteriae: Most 'enhanced' , most 'original' (factory spec), most pristine, and 'endurance (miles/km) elan' Give it a thought. As I have humbly suggested in Donington last year, the winner in each category should get a LEC 'award', renewed each year. Handed out on the Stand in Donington or in the holiday inn conference room if that is the place where most people are staying on saturay. I am happy to provide the awards (4) but will need your green light first and pretentions on design etc. I am sure Tony and liz will model a corner on our site to accomodate such coverage and update it in the years to come. One could even think to blend this suggestion in with the elan of the month since these fine vehicles are close to a hall of fame status anyway.
Looking forward to your comments,
my best,
wilco
