As the title says, Lotus & I had our 15mins of fame today. 8)

I was asked a few days ago if I would join in for an article featuring the classic and modern versions of three cars.

Lotus Elan (obviously), FIAT & MG all taken on the Queyside outside the Baltic Art Gallery. - As the sign says... Centre for Contemporary Art.

Had a good day out, having our photos taken and should be appearing in the June edition.

When asked about the car and how to go about finding info and cars for sale etc, I of course said the only place to go is LEC. They should be publishing the web site details :D

Looks great, although just a bit chilly. Another good plug for LEC though ;)

Let us know the issue number, so those of us overseas can get our hands on a copy.

Thanks,
Ian

Cool!

Bet the guy in the MG F had great hair to go with that impressive hard on.

In fact it looks quite Baltic !!

I knew there was a reason you were polishing it Jim - never seen it looking so clean. Looks good - keep it that way and you might stand a chance against Andrew Ennis at Callander when he defends his cup

If you originally signed on as "guest" you won't see any photo's. Try signing on again as Ex Fastcat and they should be there. They may be upside down though !!

Ah well, that would explain everything.
And yes, they we upside down, which was a good thing coz all the water that was in there due to dodgy seals managed to drain out.
So if the car has a dry interior a crate of ADNAMS in the post will suffice as a thankyou (Broadside preferably)!!!!!

Well, there it is, my 15 minutes of fame. They did a nice job, and gave it a great write up.

Not sure that I remember quoting that, but ... :)

So, Brian, hope you're happy.

I'll see if I can scan the whole lot and see what it comes out like.

I've not actually seen the mag' yet, I guess they come over the slow way but it shouldn't be difficult to get in Borders or Barnes & Noble?

Jim,
Nice article, and I think your Elan came out well. All that polishing was obviously worth it. :smt023

As always with these Classic Cars type magasine articles comparing "old" classics with "modern" equivalents, the writer pussyfoots around using weasel-words when describing the "older" classics, never committing himself or expressing a definite opinion, presumably for fear of alienating the perceived target audience and losing circulation (MGB - "the acme of British sports cars" my arse; I used to own one and it was not good).

Even allowing for the lack of an answer to the question "which is best", it's clear from the article that the author was impressed with your / Brian's -ex Elan, especially the performance.
:burnout:
Did he drive your car? Or just sit in the passenger seat? It's as close as I've ever seen one of these articles come to stating that a post 1960's sports car is actually better than the 60's ones (burn the heretic).

While we're at it, how did your immortalisation in print come about? Do you know the author, or were you approached by the magasine or Club Lotus?

Well done Jim.

John :-D
