Where can i put my dumb valve on the air pipe ?

I have juste buy a DV24 dumb valve from bailey motorsport, but I dont know if its an obligation to put the dumb valve at the origin of the piper or if i can put it in the end, near to the motor?

Steph,

you need to be on a straight section, were u`ve indicated on u`r photo are bends + there will be no room to fit the dump valve. But i`m sure u could move the T piece alittle more to the left were the 1st bend is.

put the dump valve near the motor on the air pipe is not ill-fated or dabgerous? Does the dump valve on the left will work like one put on the right on the air pipe ?

The purpose of the dump valve is to release 'pressure' when changing gear.

So in theory, it can be located anywhere along that length of Intercooler pipe. I also believe that Sy fitted his dump valve to the length of Intercooler piping running from the bottom of the turbo to the Intercooler itself.

In reality, physically locating the valve itself determines the final installation point, with the perfered location being the 'top' plenum hose, usually towards the fixed metal pipe. As the valve fits there ok, the 'T' piece require to fit it is nice and small (in terms of diameter) + it slightly descrete ie if you put it right by the throttle butterfly, you'd better make sure it looks ok, otherwise it will stick out like the thumb of a blind cobbler.

In my humble opinion, the rigid pipe offerings are the best i.e the stainless and Carbon Fibre, as not only do they tidy things up but also locate the valve in a nice 'hole' in the engine bay.

That was my original position - as advised by a 'turbo guru' at Midlands Performance Centre, Walsall.

He did tell me why there was an advantage to having it there, but I lost the will to live before he completed his verbal synopsis.

And given that the SyTech dump valve is soooo pretty, it couldn't be seen so well on that particular pipe.
