Very Old Forum

Postby ailwyn » Thu 27.04.2006, 13:27

I don't know whether anyone can answer or has any insight into this, but is the old forum ( http://www.awsnet.co.uk/forum ) still available somewhere or archived?

If I do a search on google http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... tral&meta= then I can find archives from as early as August 1999, but the posts on this site don't seem to go back before 2004.

I just think there might be some previously written nuggets that would save asking the same questions again? Although that doesn't seem to stop people repeatedly asking the same questions in this forum :D

The awsnet forum was my own personal one that was used for LEC members to post on for the short time that LEC was down due to forum/providor issues.

All old posts that were available on the YaBB forum are still available, you just need to use the search feature to find them I guess. Earlier posts than this I have no idea about, but I beleive Doug used some kind of bulletin board rather than forum, archives of this I beleive you will only find at sites like archive.org, if LEC was ever archived by them.

I recently came across archives from:
May1999 http://ret0027h.eresmas.net/lotuselancentral/archives/may99mb.htm
to:
March 2003 http://ret0027h.eresmas.net/lotuselancentral/archives/march03mb.htm.

Doug features prominantly. Sorry, I forget to post/ask about them.

Don't forget this one:
http://www.lotuselancentral.com/lec/

where it's still possible to find some stuff which isn't repeated elsewhere (although Tony has done / is doing a good job of transferring info).

Doug,

Is there a searchable archive somewhere or are these pages all that remains?

Guillermo, the same chap who's got those pages on his site, once had a serchable format for them in MS Access -- keep probing and they may be there.

Or look him up in the current site and PM or email him.

While searching with AltaVista for "+MBC +boost +turbo" I found my way in here which leads to this. No time to read now but looks like useful background info.
