Damp carpet

Postby Leung » Mon 01.05.2006, 12:00

I am having a damp patch on the boot carpet,It is on the underside on part of the carpet,on the left hand side where it sits in a recess where the tool kit sits.It is only that square patch that is damp ,the rest is dry as a bone,I cannot see any water ingress so the only reason I can think of is the drain hole on the bottom of the car that is letting in damp air.Any thoughts?

One of two things:

1) Boot windscreen washer reservior is spilling over and collecting there. Solution: Only fill half full!

2) Rubber bung in front face of the recess you mention is leaking water in from under the car when driving on wet roads. Solution: Remove bung and replace with sealant around it.

Hope that helps,

Candles.

I dont think is the washer bottle because I did not put any water in it for the very reason! Anyway the bottle is on the other side of the boot and the damp patch is on the square recess on the left hand side.

Should there be a bung on the drain hole on the bottom of the car?because all I can see is an open hole.
