I note from the latest Classic Car Mag article on the McLaren F1 (the other Peter Stevens design) that Bova coach lights were used on the F1 (4 round units, reverse and rear fog supplementary in mesh below main lights). On the basis that if it's good enough for an F1 it's good enough for an Elan and after all the F1 used 'our' indicators/side lights at the front so a fair trade it might be worth an examination. A quick google for Bova only produced a link to coach spotter sites and a female bodybuilder site featuring nudity ;-), so I have no info on sources for these lights.

Simon

I think we're looking at 2 different books.

MSA yearbook Paras Q1.3 and Q1.5 seem to apply as do drawings Q1 and Q2 (although having seen what happens to our windscreen when rolled I think Q3 or better is more appropriate).
With a bar between the two B post pillars on which to anchor the upper harness straps.

Do drawings Q31 and FIA 253-42 apply too?

Motorsport regulations are indeed a tangled web. It would be possible to write a book on the various national and international governing bodies and the intricacies and cross-referencing of the myriad of technical regulations (and still leave people confused!).

The projects I work on invariably come under international (FIA) regulations, so I don't use the MSA (national) regulations at all. However, any national motorsport body sanctioned by the FIA will respect the international technical regulations. Most of the non-formula regulations, including WRC, Touring Cars and GT cars reference Appendix J - Article 253.8 and the MSA regulations will be derived from this.

I will send you a copy of the regs to check that you are happy with this.
