Rushing,

Hi, I'm really sorry to hear about your problem - there are some jealous tossers around unfortunately. If you get a serious size needle and thread plus a patch of stout material (piece cut off a canvas tool roll?) you should be able to effect some sort of repair - if you hold the material in place with some duck tape it will help to keep it neater.

Otherwise, a hood specialist should help. In the short term you could sling a small plastic groundsheet over the hood to keep the weather out

Hope this helps

Yep, as a makeshift. Duck tape inside perpendicular to the cut (to try and retension the fabric) then one line of tape along the cut and two either side parallel with it overlapping the centre line of the first strip.

Really sorry to hear this...it makes your blood boil, doesn't it!

Halfords Convertible roof repair Kit

Postby johnbenk » Sat 20.05.2006, 20:46

Hi

Halford make a "Kit" for repairing fabric roof if damaged. Dont know if this would help with this type of damage though?

This may sound daft but can you get iron on patches? Like for your trousers, apparently. I wouldn't know myself

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately no accounting for the moronic minority. If you opt to patch it try Herefor quality hood material although priced by the Metre they may be able to sell you less.

Rushing,
Sorry to hear what the morons did to your hood. You will need either a sailmakers needle (chandlers) or an upholsterers needle (John Lewis etc).

If you're no seamstress it could look a bit Frankenstein, but you can do a reasonably neat job if you're careful, and can certainly keep it water tight. One of my old cars had a patch like that and never leaked.

Good luck and don't let the barstewards spoil your fun.

John
