3 Elans in sunny Holland

Postby Michael » Mon 05.06.2006, 13:21

On a sunny Whit Sunday in 2006 three Dutch Elans met. Jan-paul with his mustard Elan like my own and Henri with his beautiful green one.

We met at our new home just north of Amsterdam for a up of coffee and a chat. Afterwards we toured the smallest of dikes in the characteristic Dutch polder-land near our home with fantastic views on the many ancient wind mills.

It’s amazing to realize that there is so much beauty so close to the busy city of Amsterdam. Picking the smallest of roads one can drive for hours and hours through a landscape and villages that look like a postcard.

On the day before we all made an effort to clean the cars to make sure that they would look good on the photo’s.
And they were are competing like cover-girls. Looking so pretty in the sun….

It is said that there are probably about 30 Elans in Holland but one rarely sees one on the road.
The three of us are the only ones that are in touch with each other on a somewhat regular basis via the internet. We have met now and then the last two years but we never took the chance for driving together. It was real fun to do that under these sunny conditions.

An Elan op the open road in Holland is a real head turner for other road users. One can imagine what happens when three Elans pass by.
A couple of young chaps on a bicycle who probably only know the Elise wondered if the Elans were new Lotus models.
We plan to tour more often together and hope that we find a couple more Elan owners to join us next time.
