Lotus Elan Central

Well folks, my relatively new Elan is on the road and ready to rumble! Just getting an alarm and new stereo installed this week. The car is truly fantastic! Mostly because an Elan IS fantastic. I'd forgotten how much fun they are to drive (been 10 years since I owned my first one) and am re-learning all about the driveability of this machine. But, also because this beauty is practically brand new with 1,700 original miles on it.

That's not a typo either.

Doug graciously lent his time to review the car before I bought it and its exactly as he descibed it - like new. So, here's the evidence.

First time I've posted pics on the fourm and have now realized that, if you're creating a "pictorial" for people to look at in a certain order you need to enter your last pic first - not the other way around. Try to look at them from the top up............

A couple more. The odometer reading and the one modification the owner did - chroming the wheels. I think they look much nicer than the originals this way.

Thanks Monty. With only 3 days on the road its already been a blast! Relearning the limits of the car and pushing it a bit more each day is great fun. I do plan on driving this car, not leaving it in the garage. The mileage will increase for sure but not too quickly as I'm still enjoying the thrill of owning what really does feel like a brand new car.

Looks like I remember it, but I know it looks BETTER than those pictures show too! So now that we know you can take and post pics, we expect some more in the near future :-D

with a subject like that I am sure it will make you look good. I am no photographer, but I just put my shiny car in some nice places, and the pictures turn out pretty good I think . . .

Hi Don, I'm pretty certain they are not the original mats. They have no Lotus logos at all and I seem to remember from my first Elan years ago that the stock mats had logos of some sort. They also have a tag on the back that, to me, indicates further that they are aftermarket mats. Good color match though!

Ah, I remember when we got our Elan with 7k miles on her. . .and she still had her new car smell! A year later, she now has 25k miles! :shock:

Ah, Don, I'm sorry for not responding (didn't see this post). They fit pretty good actually. If you were going to do aftermarket mats for the Elan, these would make a decent template. Probably not perfect but they don't slide around from being to small and definitely aren't oversized.
