Tyre stiffness ?

Postby Paul.P » Fri 23.06.2006, 20:53

Has anyone changed from one make of tyre to another, & noticed any particular change in the stiffness of the car ?. I was running Michelin Pilots, but have changed to Goodyear F1's, & it would appear they have stiffened the car up quite a lot !

Just as it should be Paul.
The Michelins will give a more supple ride with a little more "roll turn in" to corners, where as the Goodyears (when they are run in) will give a better steering response and need less steering movement. If you find them a little too stiff you could set the pressures back to the Lotus reccomended settings.3

Thanks Jim, thought i was running at lotus settings ( 28psi ), i had heard the F1's were stiffer tyres in the side wall, therefore giving a stiffer ride, i was just interested in other peoples views who had experienced the same.
