Rear view mirror

Postby tashthedog » Mon 17.07.2006, 20:07

My rear view mirrir has become detached from the screen and neither I nor the very helpful people in my local garage can find anything that will make it stick back on - any ideas please.

I've not had good results with the Halfords one. However, the Loctite version which uses a gauze piece has been fine for me (available from, er, Halfords IIRC).

Top tip ; use meths to degrease the screen and mounting pad after making sure you get rid of ALL the old adhesives.

Ooops, yep it was the Loctite one I got from Halfrauds.

As Jim says, it's all in the prep! :D

In the brief heatwave we had this summer I too returned to my car and found my mirror hanging from its wires.

I tried the mirror pads at first (what a joke)... Superglue next (lasted a day)... Epoxy resin (The two tubes you need to mix)... PERFECT!!!
