That is not the old crashed Elan, did you get another?

Ok, after a closer look I see that it is the old red one I once sat in an almost bought, DAM! I want to cry :(

My question still stands: When is the insurance picking it up?

so you saw it when Bert was selling it then?

I don't think it will ever go to insurance -- quite impressive I must say the time he has kept it!

My showercape was stolen right off the car this week & I just bought a new one. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8075072469&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT
What a world we live in!. No real valuables where in the car & they left all my personal effects. They had to reach inside blindly to unlock the doors to remove the showercape, and they didn't touch the automatic-battery-charger I had hooked up... so they knew exactly what they wanted.

Yes, I was going to buy it but the repairs were taking to long and my first one (in Flordia) became avalible. Actually, Barts son was the one selling it.

Yo dudes, busy man have been I. The new ShowerCape is water-tight & fits precisely. It kept the car interior dry overnight with the top down during a pouring rain. I also like the soft stretchy piece that anchors under the rear-view-mirrors and the flap which allows you to lock it under the car. Nice piece of kit!

I fitted the UK-version stainless exhaust (the day I left I received my "big" exhaust back from JetHot!). The car is happier with it & revs immediately & steadily to .5 bar, even at low RPM/massed-throttle. Much better than the 2-cat USA exhaust!!! I'll be pulling it before winter though and putting on the big one.

Happy motoring!

Yeah, I have the brand-new oil-pan JH coated, but like I said, all that stuff arrived the same day I left on vacation.

Too bad I'll have to remove the prongeron again but at least I finally 100% realize how it bolts to the car through huge rubber isolators. At 1st I thought "lining this back up to the bolt-holes will be a bit$^%"... then I realized you just nudge it over on the rubber bushings & it fits right back together!

Yes, what happened to Bill's exhaust from old red? Do you still have it? Might save me some work if you still want to sell it :D

Probably, not 50-bucks anyway, but it does mean I don't need ANY heat-shields around it. You can actually touch it right after driving for like 20-seconds! Also you might notice that the downpipe is welded up extra-thick. I told the welder of the cracking-problem inherent to that piece and that was his approach; although I'll be putting the 2.5" system back on next weekend.

I've given my back this weekend off and drove the Lotus to work every day this week for the 1st time I've been in Atlanta, ever! The heat-wave is finally supposed to break tomorrow and just be in the 80's.

Cheers, Matt

Looks like the new girl's underside is looking as nice as where ol' red left off. Truly amazing work, Matt. I shudder when I take pics of the underside of my car and I think of your polished frame and hardware.

The parts situation is eerily similar to the Dave Bean arrangement Lotus has here. As the Capri supplier says on his site
MCCM/CAPRI has an ongoing agreement with an Australian exporter to purchase new Capri parts and Accessories, (still available in Australia) that fit the US models.

As you may know, Ford USA has almost abandoned the Capri by dis-continuing all but a few essential parts. Many of the parts that were listed in our Capri Parts Catalog are now no longer available from Ford USA.

As long as Ford APAO continues to make parts available for the Australian market you can be assured of an ongoing supply of new Capri replacement parts that apply to the US models. This import arrangement coupled with our existing inventory of new, reproduction, and used Capri parts will ensure a Capri parts pipeline for the future.

I bought the next to last Ford exhaust manifold in the whole county a month ago, and the same part 2-years used went for 50-bucks more on EBAY before I'd even received my beautiful new part. All their turbos cracked their ex-mans due to thermal stress & not thick enough iron along the 2/3 cylinder wall which happened to terminate the crack right on the top of the O2-sensor hole. If this got wide enough the O2-sensor could get a whiff of fresh air and your engine would momentarily do some weird things... I've witnessed it. Which is why I got a spare and will pay the premium to coat it in the new MC-15 coating for, gasp, $145!!!!!!! But at least that will pass the heat through it since it's coated on BOTH sides and should keep it from EVER cracking since I am running successfully 15-degrees cooler than any other Capri.

BTW... I cut the 1st part of this post off cuz I was born stupid. It was slightly brilliant although not too mighty for you guys, "the Two Pint Crew", to handle. Too tired to do it again now... maybe in a few days.

Matt, did I miss something here? Do you still have your Elan? or did you trade her for the Capri? Or you have both? Sorry for the confusion :?

I sold 1 house last year but will never sell this one, with a dock for a small boat in back. You must coincide your departure & return with 2 high-tides a day. Still, Florida is a paradise & I will be here the later-half of next week! And retire here!

Pics of the newly installed Jet-Hotted exhaust. Have the boost set at between .5bar/.6bar right now so as not to tear-up the clutch as I have to make an Xmas trip of some 1500-miles. After that I'll pump-up the boost again as I have a 90%+ dual-composite clutch sitting quietly in a box just waiting for its chance to join the ride.

On my test-ride tonight even with the boost set low it spools so fast (NO lag at all!) that the need for the Wilwood brakes is indisputable. With a 2.5" mandrel exhaust one would soon kill either themselves, their car, or both without the instant and reliable stopping power of the Wilwoods. With the stock Euro exhaust on the OE brakes did not present a constant danger; with this exhaust however... the effect was just stated above.
