Hi,
I'm going to buy a bottle of injector cleaner to use in my 105K elan and wondered if anyone could recommend any?
There's plenty to choose from, Redex, Slick 50, Wynns, STP and so on, all priced roughly the same. Has anybody got better results, if any, from any particular brand?

PS. Any other elan owners around the Preston area this weekend?

Any three out of those four are fine (don't know Wynn's).

Unfortunately I can't Monty.
Had to decide between the girlfriend, house & family that I only see at weekends anyway, or spending 2 days down there talking about and comparing elans.
I know which I'd prefer it to be but decided that coming home to an empty house after a 6hr drive every Friday evening wouldn't be fun!!
Women eh!!
If there's a meet in the northwest sometime, social or car-orientated I'll be there.

Sorry for being so tardy in my posting, but several years ago BMW supposedly did a study of injector cleaners and they recommend Chevron Techron (now they have their own in-house brand). I have been using it for hundreds of thousands of miles in various cars (including my Elan) and have had very good results.
Two 20 ounce bottles, 2 tanks full of gas and you better change the oil right away. It will be black as ink.

What?!? I don't follow...
FWIW, I have heard nothing but praise for Wynn's products from every mechanic I have spoken with; it is supposed to be good stuff.

From my experience, Techron must start cleaning away gunk and crap inside the engine and that stuff makes its way down into the oil. The instructions say not to use more than three bottles between oil changes. I usually wait until the last tank of gas before an oil change and then run the stuff through. The oil goes black after running the stuff through, but the more you use it, the less black it becomes. When I first got my M100, I ran two bottles through in relatively quick succession and the oil turned black. I think there must be a cumulative effect to its cleaning.
