Very nice indeed! The first m100 I laid eyes on was Pacific Blue, so I've always had a fondness for that colour.

Looks good! As a matter of interest, do you get troubled by stone chips? My pacific blue one looks like someone blasts it with a shotgun every week and I don't drive that fast...

I have a nice new plate to go on it, and already turned the heads of 3 policemem on the way home from the plate shop.. But I do prefer the car without one.

As for stonechips, I shall weep each time she gains a new one now that ive got a brand new front bumper, and resprayed nose. I guess stonechips are just a fact of life at the moment, I dont get huge amounts (nothing like Stevo's pebbledashing), but I do get some degree down the sides and the occasional big one you hear on the front end.

Chris, suprisingly enough that was some very defensive parking, having picked up the car an hour before hand I wasnt risking it being crunched again!

Tony, would you like a stick on number plate? Saves drilling horrible holes in your shiny bumper, prevents stonechips and looks way better than a standard one - much more, er, compact. I'll make one up free of charge if you want one...

now im intrigued.... never seen one with a stick on plate. I quite like the car with no plate, but Mr Plod says I need one.

I tend to use adhesive tape to keep my plates on (dont like the drilling idea) but that means I usually lose about 2 plates a year. I'm willing to give a sticky one a crack, just not overly sure I'll like how it looks, got any pictures? and well I couldnt say no to a nice offer like that either

There was a thread a short while ago about the penalties for non-conforming number plates.

I'm guessing that the numberplate above would attract such a penalty if the officer were a little bored or p*ssed off.

You need to weigh up the balance of asthetics vs points on license/fine/possible increase in insurance costs.

My current number plate has no conforming issues, I dont have one on!....

The plod generally are only interested in ones that are unreadable or seriously adulterated, and if thats their fancy you cant drive for 5 minutes around here without seeing an obviosly illegal plate.

Correct Ailwyn, the plate is not intended for road use, anyone using one does so at their own risk etc etc :roll:

Yep but one day u will get done, i know of several on NORLOG with Elises who have been done with no plate and the incorrect lettering/spacing some just get a warning but there`ll be no 2nd chance and others got a £30 on the spot fine and were told that the police now have the power to take away u`r regerstration of the vechile (haven`t clue about that one thou)

My guess would be that spacing is less of a temptation to Mr Plod than incorrect letter sizes. All it takes if for the local transport division to have a crackdown on this specific issue (which they all do in cycles - emissions, tyres, tax, number plates).

If the penalty were just a £30 fine then I would be less bothered, but if it does involve points, then this would be a far greater worry. Imagine passing a speed camera and facing 3 points for speeding + 3 points for the no plate!

I try and operate a policy of don't attract attention, that way you'll be less likely to be pulled for someting minor, and while taking a closer look they find a more serious problem, e.g. worn tyres (3 points a piece) etc. Rember, your a fairly young driver in a sportscar, this in itself would be enough to have some plods pull you over and nail you with everything they can..... been there and done it!

Just my opinion though.
