The green folder highlights do appear to get reset to grey however.

This worked for me.

You're right

Logging out and in again does reset..

That's a shame though... :(

There is an arrow pointing to a pink "page" for unread threads, this disappears if you refresh after reading the post.

Whatever the colour, you're right - it disappears as the folder colour changes from green.

when clicking that symbol, it takes you to the first unread post in the particular thread. Of course.. if you read the thread, it marks it as read and the symbol disappear.

There was a mod installed in the past about the read thread etc. I don't know yet if the current problems you guys have had is what could be fixed with that mod or not, so do keep posting to let me know what's going on (or not) and what changes you're experiencing.

Ditto.

Also, found this new (un-read) post all by myself. The computer said no.

It also adds your own posts to the "view posts since last visit" list!

But they are marked as read (as long as you waited for the post to auto-return to the thread).

Another problem: posts are being marked as read from one session to the next. I suspected it was happening so I've delibereately left some unread. Next login and they appear as read.

A couple of weeks ago it was suspected that topics were disappearing - has anyone checked this as the new system does appear a bit flaky? It would be a shame to suddenly find we've lost a load of useful stuff.

The threads 'disappearing' a few weeks ago was due to some auto-pruning defaults being set that we were not aware of, that has no been remedied and some of the threads restored from backup.

The new differences you may be seeing is due to a security update with the software. The actual database contents have not changed.

We previously made modifications to the forum coding to change the behaviour of "unread" posts. The security update wiped out these changes, hopefully we can return these features back to the way you are used to shortly.

A mod doing the same as the other mod that disappeared in the upgrade, in regards to keeping unread messages, has now been added

I'd just like to remind people of the fantastic work that Liz & Tony carry out for the benefit of us all.

Without them, we'd be right up sh1t creek - thanks you two!

The emails about a PM now include the message !!!

Means you don't even have to go to the forum to see them. Not sure if that is good or bad

Mind you it does mean you can't see if people have read them or not, 'cos they may just read the email version

Gary muttered:

"Means you don't even have to go to the forum to see them..."

And when has going to LEC been such a burden, Gary? :P

To reply to PM you still need to go to the site, it just means that those of us that cant be looking at LEC all day, but can look at email do get PM's and might allow us a quick visit to LEC knowing what message is waiting for us.
