Hey they look good Marie, they are quite similar to mine, just wondered how you are going to seal them against the body work (do they match up with the exsisting rubber weather strips) and how you are going to mould them, as I had to cut the mould into quaters for each of the light recesses fill the gaps between each peice with putty and then mould over the top. It was way too time consuming 20 part mould and 100 bolts

Hey Chris, Any pics of your lights? This is actuallu my second go around with building a light conversion. I basically took a mould of the original light with the eyebrow on it and created a pretty good negative of what I wanted. from there I moulded a cylinder and cut it in half for the lens recesses and shave one side to be flush with the the other relief I made from thee negative. Then I just set up the cast on a flat suface of mylar and made he bottom and made a separate backing piece. Resined the 4 pieces togeather and voila! Basic light form. I jus shaped it where needed with additional glassfibre. I sits perfectly to the rubber seals for the stock light. I will now be taking a negative of this completed housing for production purposes. That will be fun.......

Hi Marie, That sounds like a lot of work to make, I hope the next ones you make are easier. The problem I had was making the light recesses if it wasn't for them it would have been an easy job. I don't have any picture with me here. but I have posted some on one of my friends sites, heres the address
www.perfectphase.com/Mousse/Pages/CategorySelect.aspx?CatID=77
best of luck and thanks for the info

Thank you all for the compliments and on the 360 front..... muuuuuhahahahaha! The colourscheme is very close. For the UK guys, I havew a favour to ask. It any one has a spare set of the UK eyebrows I will be needing a set to make the UK lights. I need a set to mould off of and to compare to once the set is complete. I'm almost done with both of the Fed prototypes. Sad part though....I'm leaving monday morning to get married in 'Vegas...... well sad for the project, very happy for me.

Actually, that does look nice. But, I think the look is made better by the fact that the black piece is all one piece, not several like the equivalent area of the Elan's is. Now, if someone were to make a one piece repalcement for that section and paint it high gloss black..............that could look very nice indeed.

A photo on how it may elise lamps will light up your darkest nights.
I would say that LMG's design is better with the side vent on the rear lamps housing. Also, it has seals around the lamps which is another plus point.
I think it the end, the rear bumper needs to be updated. Something with a diffuser and less rounded and protuded ... so far havent seen any projects on this..
at last...

I'd be prepaired to remove mine and send them off to you Marie, as I won't be doing much with the car in the winter months (I didn't do much in the summer months but that's for a different discussion) but I'll need them back.
So enjoy your wedding and drop me a PM when you get back and I'll see about getting my set sent off to you.

Hi LGM. Your revamp of the tail lights look great and you seem to be generating a lot of interest. I would be interested in a pair if you decide to make a few extra sets (and if you can do it for a reasonable amount of $$). A few questions: First, does the piece bolt into the 4 factory tail lamp attachment points AND screw into the eyebrow atttachment points? or have you devised another method (I can see the eyebrow screws in place- just not sure of how else you attached it). Second, the portion on the side that sits meets the fender appears to be trimmed to sit flush with the fender whereas the factory tail lamp extends behind the fender- I like the flush look much better- but do you think there will be water leaks at this point? I am looking forward to your progess with this project. I saw in another post that you mentioned having an Esprit chin spoiler on your elan- what year esprit did you get it from, and could you post a photo of it?
Thanks,
Rob

I"ll be bringing the prototype to the PABCS this sunday. I haven't finished the other side nor have I finished the paint scheme. Getting married kinda put a hold on that for now. However It will be kina cool for all those interested here in the Bay Area to have a look.
The pod sits flush to the fender and matches the bodyline perfecly. I have tested it on 2 cars and with a willing third at the car show I will call this one good.
There is a seal between the pod and the fender to prevent leaks. It is bolted to the lower holes and the eyebrow mounts. It is really secure and does not vibrate/rattle as is typical with alot of lotus parts.
