I make the elemental shower-cap for the Lotus Elise and VX220 and sell them from my website shower-cap.com. I also deal closely with Hangar lll (hangar111.com) who tell me they have been contacted by Elan owners who suffer the same problems as Elise owners with the dreaded leak from the junction of the windscreen top and the side windows (good old Lotus!). Apparently several Elan owners have asked if a shower-cap was available for them. I might be interested in developing one but would need access to an Elan for patterns etc. Firstly is this a problem and are there owners who would be interested? And secondly is there anyone in the Preston area of Lancashire who would give me access to his/her car. This would involve three or four visits the first taking at least one hour. My shower-caps sell for £93.50 including postage and I would imagine an Elan shower-cap would be similarly priced. Any comments would be welcome:

Brian,
I'm sure that your efforts are appreciated, but as soon as shower caps are mentioned on here, those in the know instantly direct people towards AB Motorsports or their UK agent - WillB.
You may want to save yourself some time and effort as the product that is already available is top quality (I have one myself so can say this with a degree of certainty), and undercuts your projected price by a tenner (edit - OK a fiver).
AB and Will pretty much already have the market sewn up, so you may not realise the return on your investment. Just trying to save you wasting time and effort

Thanks guys
What must be said is the cheaper ones are not the high quality or easy of fitment of the AB version (which has sold over 300!) but often people just want the cheapest option and disregard the quality/ease of fitment.....
I can still do the high quality AB showercapes for £89 to anyone who wants them and can ship worldwide. Just drop me a PM or email

WillB gave up with AB following very poor aftersales support.

I'm in the market (still) for a rain cape. Is the AB one better than the Moto-Build racing?

Typical... after several years the truth comes to the top... A shame that Brian never has made one of his top notch covers for the Elan. His Elise and VX ones are the best on the market worldwide.
