driving down the road today and hit the accelarator hard all was fine as i released accelarator the dump value dumped the excess gas and a big cloud of grey white smoke was ejecteded from the exhaust and covered my lane on the motorway checked gauges all was normal when i repeated the on off accelartor as soon as gas dumped smaller cloud of smoke i pulled in and saw oil in the dump valve and down the back off the block by the gear linkage lots of oil checked level in engine was fine and as far as could be seen no water in block no oil in header tank but oil in air filter as well and the intake hoses from the throttel butterfly down to charge cooler and then on to turbo thought it might be an engine breather blocked causing over pressure anybody have any ideas cheers aaron

Hi Aaron,
You obviously know the breather connections from the crank case to just after the airbox? It could be that your seperator isn't working so oil is getting past it. Also, I believe it has a valve to prevent boost pressure blowing oil everywhere. Maybe this has gone.
The final and worst one is that the piston rings are on the way out and you are getting so much blow-by that it is overcoming the breather.
I reckon it is the valve or seperator as you describe it as being related to boost usage.

candles cheers for the quick reply mate i was hopping you would be around as your the engine man first id ont think it is the piston rings as i have had my head gasket changed twice last year and the guys would have told me if there was any wear so i can rule that out now the air oil seperator part no a100e60183 is a small square box with a 2 inlet outlet tubes and as it is listed as air oil seperator i guess thats what you suggest is gone i will check this out first and let you know cheers for now

have a look at the inlet and exhaust, on the air side of the turbo as the oil seals could have gone, clean in the inlet good this will also check out the oil separator as well oil in exhaust side bad seals gone

have changed oil air seperator as i had a spare the old one didnt seem to have to much oil in it i checked other breather with the one way valve thing and that seems ok but the main throttle body has oil in it only a light coating the main pipe with my dump valve in is also coated in oil and the dump valve is leaking oil there is oil in my air filter and in the pipe from the air box to the turbo and there was a bit of oil on the intake fins on the turbo and on the houseing inside any idears john not sure quite what you mean i guess i have checked the intake side of turbo and its got oil what do you reckon that means

That it is coming down the breather line rather than your turbo oil seals broken. I.e. a good thing!

well it is i dont fancy stripping the turbo again so is that narrowing down what the problem is do you think i guess oil is not coming from the the turbo so must be coming from the engine could a breather be blocked and causing some kind of back pressure
