Engine cover vent

Postby lotusgirlmarie » Thu 26.10.2006, 11:10

As per Dave M's request, here are some photos of the conversion I did on my Elan. The vent is from a '98 mercedes benz E320. I only used 2 of the 3 rows of louvers. It took quite a bit of machining to get it to sit right as well as a bit of heat forming but the end result is well worth the effort. Watching the heat rise up out of the vent while sitting in traffic..... major bonus compared to letting it fester under the hood.

Very nice. Thanks for the pics!

Wow, easily up to your usual standard.

I'd love to see your Elan in the flesh (well, metal and plastic) to be able to take in all of the little design details and modifications that you've made.
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...! :P

Nice huh? :) I got lucky a couple of time and found myself walking around her car round and round like a marry-go-round :-D

It'll likely be at the British Car Meet in Palo Alto, California next September, so start making your plans, Neil!

Dear Doug:

Wouldn't it make much more sense to have Neil see it at LOG 27 in Snowmass in August, 2007?

He can take the direct flight from London to Denver on British Airways and just motor west from there.

We can have our own, unofficial LEC gathering there as well.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

sounds like a maybe then!

though I plan to go to Oshkosh airshow and I doubt I'd get the hall pass for both events . . .

wonder if the Tesla cars will go to LOG ??

Dear Doug:

Bring the better half and the kids. We are planning tours of the area (both guided and unguided) ranging from 40 miles to 200 miles roundtrip. There should be plenty of stuff to do for all concerned.

I think the 200 mile tour goes over Independence Pass which is some of the prettiest views in the West.

I'll have more details during our planning meeting on the 4th of November.

Sincerely,

Algirdas

PS Just hand your wife your credit cards and turn her loose in downtown Aspen and all will be fine. Just fine. . .
