Exhaust advice urgently needed!

I need to replace the exhaust so I have been taking a look round the posts here.

Think I may go for the PECO thats 2 1/4" (I think) but I keep reading about "the stiffy" - what is a stiffy? is it the down pipe and do I need one to benefit from the PECO's 2 1/4"

Will I suffer from over boost? (and how can I stop this)

Also where can I get one from?

Any other advice welcome (and very urgent as my SE is my every day drive).

The stiffy replaces the downpipe but is not essential with the Peco.

You may well suffer from overboost (it seems to be pot luck as there is no consistent pattern). I get overboost, but it is only evident after sustained & heavy acceleration. I've found I can live with it quite easily until I get around to removing the turbo and opening up the wastegate diameter. There is also an issue with a high pitched screech which some of us experience at high revs but no-one has resolved as yet.

Peco are at www.Peco.co.uk or 0151 647 6041. The LEC deal was agreed with their Head of R&D Dave Jones (see LEC thread) who has agreed to leave the price at £250 + P&P for the forseeable future. The quality is very good and fitting should not be a problem (a few of us have blagged our local exhaust fitting places to fit it at a quiet time for ~£10-20 cash).

One final word of warning - they are quite loud!

I must admit to being a bit worried because not only was it loud, but it was very harsh to start with. As it has sooted up, it is a lot more mellow however.

If you are doing it yourself, go on a diet as there is not a lot of clearance. Make sure you give the flange nuts/bolts a few good soaking of penetrating oil well before you go to release them - be careful not to shear them!

Fitted the PECO yesterday.

Fitted it by myself took about 4 hours (with several visits to Halfords) had to cut the old exhaust over the rear suspension as the join was solid.
Took most of that time just to get the old pipe off, but the PECO fitted great.

Its a bit loud but I can live with it, not sure if my neighbours can!

With the everest chip I can feel the power increase, its spinning is second!

Will be ordereing a Bailey DV30 recirculating dump valve later this week so I will need advice on how to fit it.

That is exactly how I found mine too (even though it's not a Peco).
Sounds just right now.
Or maybe I've simply gone deaf...pardon?
