i have been looking at getting a everest chip but dont fancy fitting it myself . is there anyone in norfolk who would be willing to help

When we were the guinea pigs for the original prototype chips, we had to fit our own (several members have since done the same). I was full of trepidation too, but it really is very simple - I'm sure I took some photos and did a write-up somewhere.

I'll have a look and see if I can find it in the archives.

yep i saw some photos on installation and also a write up on requirments such as FCD MBC and blowoff valves????? the main problem i have is as far as i know my car is standard exept for a big exhaust and k+n filter i dont think i get any boost creep but then i dont know what it is lol. also when it comes to cars i am a muppet

for what its worth I'd go for the everest......
you might as well have all rather than just a bit......then its all down to you how much you use......
I got mine before Donington this year but neve had the guts to fit it....so I spoke nicely to alan and he fitted it at the Donington show......
I was going to watch how he did it but just as he dropped the glove box to start a chap came over and started chatting away......I looked away for about 2 minutes and it was in...done and dusted......so I'm afraid Im still no wiser as to how it goes in....but alan does sent a set of fitting instructions with the chip which everyone seems to have found invaluable

Everest is the more powerful...they're equally as 'good' as each other.

Im sure if you wait until the next show at Donington in march and ask alan very very nicely indeed he would be willing to fit it for you.....
IIRC there was a mass fitting a couple of years ago when alan spent most of his time in the carpark fiddling behind peoples gloveboxes....
it'd also keep you sane over the winter months have a std car....then come the spring up that boost and bhp.......
also save you the postage if alan brought it with him....
just thoughts....youd need to ask alan first fo course!!!

my car is on the road all year round i use it to commute 25 miles a day, i fancy a bit more power for the icy roads lol

I think if you read through that a few times and have a look at the ECU with the instructions in your hand it will soon start to make sense.

I've found many of the instructions on here daunting on a first read but when you get into it it's amazing how accurately they will reflect your own experience.

And if you get any queries during, someone here will soon have an answer for you I expect.

It really is very easy. Its certainly the easiest job I've ever done on an Elan... No-one who's tried has failed. I know of only two cases where installation problems were encountered. One guy managed to bend a pin over putting the memcal on the daughter board - I'm really not sure how he managed that - but he straightened it up again and everything worked fine. I also know of one case where the ECU fuse got blown (obviously didn't disconnect the battery - tsk, tsk) but, again, everything worked fine after the fuse was replaced.

I got mine a few weeks ago, basically it was a breeze. I had to do it twice because I ordered the wrong chip (actually needed one with CO potentiometer mod). First time took me 30 mins brcause I was being careful and overlly cautious. Second time took about 10 mins.

I was wary like you about fiddling with ECu but it is easy and Alan's piccies and instructions are easy to follow.

In terms of which chip to use you may wish to consider the mileage of your engine eg how much extra stress it can take?

Alan's website makes it clear that this is a serious consideration.

Both my Elans have >100,000 miles, its not so much the mileage as how well its been maintained.

Surely all you need to do is remove the fuse? Save a bit of bother?
