Postby surfboardfiller » Wed 22.11.2006, 21:31

Have I got a bad download or are pages 40 to 61 missing from the Handbook v6.pdf?

Thanks,

Phil

They're missing by the look of it. I've had a look in mine but it's totally different as it's for the S2. What you after Phil?

I didn't have the handbook at home and needed the Brakes and Fuses sections. I have the book here now so maybe I should scan it in to avoid the same happening in the future?

Sounds like a good idea. I might even get around to scanning the S2 book!

Good idea, I think I will leave out that copy right notice too.

I can't see an addendum in the servce notes either. RE John_W's post on seals and leaks...

"it's in the Service Notes manual itself. See Addendum no 1 "Water Ingress; areas of attention" pp 55-73."

and I don't have the original but am interested in what he is referring to.

Phil-

ps how are you getting on with the hood rings?

I found a copy of the engine management manual online without the copyright notice, but I'm not telling you buggers where it is 'cause it might upset my mate the alternator thief

I've got the rings measured up Phil, but by the time I got back to work the bloke I was going to ask had left. I've asked someone else and he'll do it but he's a bit busy at the moment. I'll let you know.

I found most of the manuals on the file sharing networks, not just for the Elan either, pick a car and there's usually something available.

The only people who will buy them from ebay are the one's that know no better, a 5 min search turned up this site that I have not come across before:

Top of the page.... what do we have?

Nice one Geoff

I am half way through removing the offensive red lettering from the parts guide I downloaded from this site!
Kind of makes it a bit pointless, but who am I to say that it's elitest anal to blight another mans progress?

The above site never loads for me. I just hope that someone from here isn't hosting the files elsewhere, as that's one thing we asked people not to do. I'm sure if someone scans the missing pages into a PDF and sends it to Sy he will happily update the one on the site.

I think I'll scan my handbook in, even though it's an SE

I don't know who posted them on their web site, but their versions are a lot easier to read and a lot quicker to look through.
Personally I am glad I have clear copies and quite grateful to whom ever.
I didn't get anything other than a handbook with my car. Information should be freely available IMHO, that's what is so good about this site... Peeps helping eachother out.

Despite the wonderful world of t'internet, this material is still covered by copyright laws. Although you can no longer buy the manuals from Lotus themselves, I'm sure they would prefer people not to be profiting from them.

The selection we have here is one of the most comprehensive available on-line, and we would prefer them to not make their way into the hands of ebay sellers.

Yeh, selling 'copies' is a pretty bad thing to do and of course such action is liable for prosecution (quite rightly so). That is not spreading the love! :(
