Postby bulldogsimon » Sat 25.11.2006, 12:29

my central locking only works on the key in the passenger door. if i lock the drivers door i can hear an electrical noise but only the driver door locks. if i lock the passenger door both doors lock and i get the same noise. :? any ideas? would getting a new alarm with remote central locking cure this?

If the car has previously had a problem with the central locking the solenoid connected to the near side lock mechanism may have been disconnected (or it may just be faulty). My near side has been disconnected (the part is obsolete) and I have exactly the same symptoms. The reason you can lock both from the passenger side is that the central locking sensor may still be in place which automatically triggers the central locking for the driver's door if you lock the passenger side, but if you lock the driver's door it won't work the other way round if the solenoid is missing on the passenger side. Should not stop you from exploring other possible answers, but if on investigation nothing else seems wrong then this might be the reason.
