Just got my first Elan

Postby AndyL » Mon 04.12.2006, 10:09

Hi All
Just driven back from London with a big smile on my face all the way.
Elan S2 #446, Yellow, 26K miles - love it

With its low mileage and the fact that it has been off the road for a while what service should I give it?

According to the handbook the last service was A+C in August/05. Since then it has only done 2000 miles.

And should I be considering replacing the cambelts?

Andy

Does the service history show that it's been changed at all - if not or if it was more than 5-6 years ago, yes, change it.
If you're board, fetch it 'round the science park and I'll have a shuftie.

No - The cambelt has not been changed, so I'll probably get it done anyway (peace of mind etc.)

Is Paul Matty the nearest reputable dealer?

I'm busy today but I could get round the Science park for tomorrow (about 12ish) Where abouts are you or will I see your car?

Yes, i would definately recommend Matty's, but you'll probably have to wait a while. Their reputation is such that they're always heavily booked-up.
Tomorrow is not good, but there's no rush. See what PM say about your service, I only live a mile away from them, so meeting up will not be a drama.
