My car has been standing for about 8 to 10 weeks.
On Friday it was not raining so I thought I would take it for a spin. The performance was far greater than when I parked it up. The boost guage just wanted to keep climbing (I eased off to stop engine going bang at just below 1 bar). After a 15 min. the performance was back to normal.
I have an Everest chip and replacement PM 1.75 stainless exhaust. Outside temperature was about 8 deg. Engine temperature was low since I had only driven 3 miles.
Normally my boost guage may sometimes reach .8 bar but this is not allways available.
Why did this happen
Is there something I should check since the car was more impressive than normal and if possible I would like to obtain the improvement on a permanent basis.
Lots of pain and little gain

Could be the wastegate sticking - check out the Turbos, Boost and Intakes section.
Here is a good place to start.

Especially as the ECU limits boost when the engine is cold. If you were cold and getting more than normal boost, it sounds like a stuck wastegate. The fact that the car has been unused for as while supports leaping to this conclusion.
I wouldn't call it an improvement as it is a mechanical fault which prevents the ECU's (& chip's) safety precautions from coming into effect.
Time to get out the mole grips.

Or, if it was only a small increase, it might have been the cooler temp combined with lack of familiarity??
