My gosh, how much have you spent in parts? Dauntingly superb!
Strive for perfection in everything. (given time)

If it doesn't exist, create it. (God did)

Back from my weeks camping, ended up in the lakes, at bit busy for me, I like the open spaces up here :burnout:

Any back on subject, finally got my samco hoses fitted and had engine running up to temp, sweet as a nut ! Mind you, when its ticking over and you give it sharp blip of throttle when the revs come down I get a lively backfire. Has anyone else experienced this after fitting a peco and porting wastegate? Or has my timing altered slightly, I did have the cas off but it went back on the exact same place because I marked where it met the head with a centre punch before removal. Apart from that no leaks or drips in sight. :D

Hoping to get the car on its wheels by the end of the week.

There may be a visible light at the end of the tunnel, but still a long distance to go. :?

I have a ported wastegate and 2 1/4" SS system, and I get backfiring on the over-run on the move, but never while stationary.

Looking forwards to seeing the finished result. It's been a fantastic project.

Mucho kudos. :D

Mines exactly the same as enright - over run and backfires with a 2 1/4 and ported wastegate, also have an everest chip. cant say i have noticed it stationary. Will try next time i have the car out and let you know.

Been ignoring the elan a lot lately, trying to catch up on all the things I should have been doing other than the lotus over the last sevral months. Sadly it would seem there is more to life than work and the elan, trying to fit them all in is the problem.

Enclosed is pic of the samco hoses fitted, a welcome burst of colour to the engine bay !

Today was a bit of a milestone, as you can see in second pic, the elan has touched down  You kind of forget how low it is after sitting on axle stands for so long.

Well, its taken about seven months (on and off) to get this far, but there is still a fair amount to do, mainly all the front end body work and paint work not forgetting the doors. No point in rushing now because Ive missed the best of the summer anyway (what summer?) so Im just going to take my time and have it finished by spring 2008

At least its on the ground now so I can trial hang the doors before I paint them (they are next on the paint list)

Also still one or two small jobs to do underneath including all the brake calipers to rebuild and the anti roll bars to fit.

Looking excellent Jamie - keep up the faith

Only a very minor point, and it might just be the photo or my fading eyesight, but it looks quite high at the rear - the distance between the top of the tyre to wheel arch ??? There is quite a gap normally with the bog standard 15" wheels (the 16" S2's fill the gap better IMO) but I remember someone on here (maybe ChrisT or Monty ?) changing their old shockers to new (Federal ??) ones and it changed the ride height so they changed them for something else?? Or is my memory going as well ??

For info. Jamie, I've just gone and measured mine and the distance is a massive 3"

I agree with Rambo on the rear ride height. Mine is definitely lower (but then maybe my springs are old and saggy?). Blue hoses look great though - Mine have just arrived, so now I need to have a go at fitting them.

Good point Alan - I hadn't thought of that one - my springs will be old and saggy too !!

Although the car looks high at the rear, bear in mind its just been let off the axle stands and the boot has no spare in it etc so once it rolls around a bit it will settle down. Well spotted though !

Incedentially for anyone who is interested, the use of federal spec shocks will not, I repeat will not alter your ride height!!!

Only the use of federal springs will increase the ride height.

Just in case anyone thinks I've died

I'm doing project Honda CRF450 (road registered mx bike)

Just trying to enjoy whats left of the weather since the Elan won't be hitting the road until late spring once the salt is gone!(good things come to those who wait!)

Incedentially the bike doesn't have such a good forum as here. :?
