Can anyone tell me when you replace the seals on the hood which folds i.e the 2nd seal in from the top pillar does it come with the metal strip which the 2 screws go through?

When you buy the hood seals thats all you get is the foam/rubber part
Sounds like you mean the intermediate seal

yep, you only get the foam-rubber bits - clean up the old carrier, rust treat it, paint it, then glue the new seal on with Sikaflex.
Section BK (Addenda) Page 65 of the Service Manual is quite helpful.
The manual specifies Betaseal, but I had some Sikaflex handy and it did the job well...

Baz,
Strongly recommend you visit the Lotus surplus parts webstore. The intermediate seals are on there for 11 quid a side plus P+P....well they were a couple of weeks ago when I bought myself two sets.

Hi
I havn't visited this forum for some time as I left bahrain just over a year ago and unfortunatly had to sell my elan.
Anyway I found this link whilst looking for seals for my new car and thought of you guys on here. They may not be able to supply the famous A post seals but they have a selection of other lotus seals that may be of some use to you

Ah, Bahrain, many happy times there, even including meeting the wife there.
