So how do I get it out? Spare one ready just in case, loads of penoil over last few weeks, bought an O2 socket, using it with Mole grips to stop it opening up and I'm only rounding the bloody sensor! :evil:

What should I do? Heat it or open up the cutout in the heatshield?

Does it HAVE to come out?
Won't the heat shield fit over the plug after it's been unbolted?

I'm afraid it does! I may just open up the hole in the heatshield but it may end up having to go a long way. :evil:

Yeah, but not what you're thinking. It's a four wire (cheap as chips) sensor which I believe (hope) will work!

The heatshield will come off over the O2 sensor. :-D

Ailwyn, we had the engine out when we did it, but it definitely came off, cause ive got the wastegate manifold ( with O2 sensor ) ready to go back on, perhaps Geoff will be able to explain

When I tried removing mine, the heatshield was getting jammed between the top of the O2 sensor and something else (although i can't remember what).

The only way I could see of doing it was to either bend the heatshield, cut a section out of the heatshield which would allow it to slide past the o2 sensor, or remove the O2 sensor (which was not happening - not for the lack of trying and one snapped O2 sensor remover).

Bet it's one of the ones with a blind hole, right?
I think you're going to have to take it to an engineer to get it drilled out properly, and possibly re-tapped.
