Matt, I've got a custom, 2.25" system which was mated to the old 2" just after the downpipe turns. A reducer was used and all was welded up together. So, I'm still connected to the OEM downpipe and there's no flex section at all.
I don't want to complicate things at all. I just can't help thinking that a welded pre-cat/downpipe combo is better than one which has a break in it connected by the flanges. Maybe its not a big deal at all and I profess little to no knowledge in this area. In a perfect world, I suppose it would be a one-piece PCE/downpipe pice I could mate to the system I have in place now.
Having said this, I suspect this may cause problems with the JH coating. If this one-piece terminated after the bend in the downpipe as just an open end that could be welded to the existing system could it even be JH coated? How could you weld the JH coated end to another SS section? Can you weld the coating? Would they leave a couple of inches at the end of the pipe uncoated so it could be welded?
More than just a few quesiotnsI could call JH if you like though if you think its worth while looking into or do we take a pass and go with the JH coated PCE and separate uncoated downpipe/flex portion?????

On the prior page you requested I order you a flex-section, which I did. I am assuming you want both the PCE & front-pipe JH-coated, correct?

If you do end up with boost creep it just means being careful about hard accelerations until you get it ported.
