:agree:
What are they?

They look similar to these but can't be cuz their 17" aren't offered in a 4x100 bolt pattern. http://www.rh-wheels.com/index.cfm?P=wh ... PID=187563

but infact they are alessio 17'
i would like to give you more info on the wheels but i can't seem to find them anywhere

i got the car from france andd the wheels came with it ... lucky me
also the two yellow light is a common thing in france
i realy liked the look of it and left them in there as there were no problem in belgium... lucky me

now i have to say that the wheels realy make a big difference on the look of the car and performance
gee i can make thight turns with these rims compare to the origionals

there is only on thing that is abolutelly chokking
and that are the brakes
i even replaced theim last year with the origional fero
deadly chokking
they sometimes slip trough the pads under a surtain speed
like there is oil on the brake disk
:x
freaky
i realy need a replacement

but hey other than that
I LOVE MY ELAN

and thank for the nice comments on my ride
i'll pass it on

The wheels you posted look virtually identical to the Alessio wheels as below. Been Googling like mad to check for an offset but can't find one. I'm not one for 5 spoke wheels but I definitely like those. Be nice to know if they are cast or forged too.

It appears the offset is +42 and they can't be had in North America.

Blair, I found them in the US but have to go a meeting. Will check more on it later if I get out of the meeting in time. Painted or chromed BTW.

Never mind. I called & he said Alessio has been out of business for over 2 years.

Ha! That's funny Matt, these are the same guys I spoke to probbaly 10 minutes before you! Said the same thing, Alessio hasn't been available in the US for a few years. The company is still around, you just can't get their wheels here.

Will someone in the UK call to see what they want for BOTH the 16" & 17" size Euro? If reasonable I'll buy them & have them shipped over.
Thanks, Matt

Blair, the guy was probably a little stunned at the sudden interest! However, he never let on I was the 2nd caller.

I'm not sure what your definition of reasonable is but I'm betting this isn't it:

http://ebc-brakes.co.uk/framefix.asp?Pr ... PID=719810

Works out to about $700 per wheel plus shipping. Better to go with Jlinecustom wheels (or the like) and get the bore and offset we want. I think those can be had for as little as $350 a wheel.

I like these but they have others.

Hmm, I got £431.00 inc VAT (17.5% which they won't charge when shipping to North America). That's $711.15 plus carriage. That's for an entire set of 4 wheels in the 17" size, the size of my choice. I wouldn't buy them from the UK with tyres as it'd add too much weight to ship (in addition, I always buy summer-only-rubber... which I can get away with living in Florida).

You may be right - didn't see the 4 x 15" remark. The link I posted was without tires. The 17 x 7.5 version is here. Love the look, don't love the offset  Wonder what the bore is?

All in, including shipping, duty and taxes, I'm guessing it would be about $1,300 USD???? Spend another $400 and get customs +60 offset wheels? Tough decision.

i see i drives some off you guys mad to find them
i can't even take a wheel off and measure the offset as i'm not near the car... car in belgium
i'm in australia
all i can add is that i remember that wen i took the wheels of that there was something that wasn't part of the wheels nor the car
something made up to fit/offset the wheels

i wish i took more notice when i took the wheels off

the best thing i can do is ask my father to go and check it out

but what do i ask him excactlly?

Bore is 69.1mm, which means it's possible to use a spacer-ring to reduce it to the 56.6mm center-bore of the Elan. Max ET you can get is +42. That's the same offset as the wheels Ekapol just bought. The great thing is that we know they'll fit cuz they're already on one Elan. You can really tell the wheel width is 7.5 and not the stock 7". That and the reduced ET make the tires seem really wide on the car.

Where did you get the info to increase $711.15 to $1300? Can't imagine shipping is that much as it only costs $750 to container-ship an entire Elan to Europe! There is only import duty in the US assessed on the portion over $500. So tax would only be levied on $211.50. I can't image taxes would be much.

Actually, this looks like perhaps the best way to go in North America. $219 a wheel for AH AE Technic in size 17 X 7 with a 4x100 bolt pattern. To me the most noticable difference is that this wheel has a wider rim than the Alessio Euro. Perhaps that's bad as it tends to accentuate the "heavyness" of the wheel. What do you think?

I was just noticing how much the wheels stick out from the fenders. Not sure that's best. I like the idea of a 7.5" wheel but only with the right offset so it doesn't protrude as much.

On the math, I was assuming 349 (wheels) + 30 (valves) + rings (21?) = 400GBP x 2.1 = 840USD. Normally, there's a duty rate on automotive goods not made in North America (6% or so) therefore total = 890. Taxes are different everywhere but I assumed 10% total = 980. Who knows about delivery but I was thinking it could be up to 200 for overseas shipment of that weight. Plus brokerage fees = $50. So about 1250 total give or take 100.

It could easily be more or less than that though....................

I wouldn't order valves as I'm not ordering tires. EVERY TIME I've bought wheels online the rings have been included in the price of the wheel. I've had the Samco hoses, Orders from SJ Sportscars (one was an ENTIRE 2" exhaust system from the downpipe to the muffler-tip), and also a large order from a UK Lotus dealer, and I have NEVER been charged VAT nor ANY import taxes. These items were all honestly declared on the customs form. USA law states a brokerage fee of $23.75 will be charged for items valued $200 to $1250, but in practice I have NEVER been charged any brokerage fees for anything I've ever imported. Freight for the exhaust was about $150 but it was delivered in only a week. I'd be satisfied to let the 80lbs worth of wheels come by ship.

In any case I shot an email to the AH people asking the offset & bore size.

For those of you in the second run: the Samco hoses are being shipped withthe first run's lot. Ekapol wil be handling deposits. I will be picking up the raw materials soon to begin the process of welding the bit togeather. Its begining again. 8)
