earthing cooling fan

cooling fans not coming on at 3/4 mark, wanted to check earth on rad frame but where is it located??

Pete,
The earth to the fans is located at the top of the vertical section of the support frame, near the top of the radiator in the centre.Two 10mm bolts about 30mm apart.If you feel about you should touch the earth lead with ring joined to the earth cable.

I'm not sure but as it bolts to the front of the prongeron, maybe it's earthed through that. Or perhaps it has a positive and negative wire, running to the motors and back, in which case an earth wouldn't be necessary. To be honest I'm not sure.
But if you were to turn on the ignition and bridge the thermal switch as per Monty's instructions 6 posts down on this thread here, then that may instantly verify where the problem IS while ruling out where it ISN'T.

Woody is right where it is. Perhaps a little off the thread,but if anyone as duff fans. I changed both mine for 2 pacet fans. You can remove the original fans completely, the new fans fit straight onto the rad no brackets required very easy to fit, and all plastic, they are 9ins and supposedly more efficient. I also fitted an independent switch so I can put the fan on any time. I think for 2, I paid £100. But remember they are either blowers or suckers I had the blowers and fitted them to the front of the rad.

The thermostat doesn't affect when the radiator fans come on. They have their own switch.

But if hot water isn't getting past a stuck thermostat to the cold side (where the sensors are), then the fans won't be activated.

My bolts are 8mm heads (i only took 'em out a couple of days ago), it's the bolts between the prongeron and rad frame that were 10mm.

Quick way of checking the fans is to unplug the rad switch (the one after the thermostat on the thermostat housing) and to short it: Circuit diagram is on the Wiki.
