Dear Simon and Brian:
I have a first class welder here in town that I use from time to time should we decide to manufacture the roll bars locally. With a good set of plans, we can build a jig for current and future needs.
Sincerely,
Algirdas

Hi as I said I had already done this a couple of years ago. Pictures are below to give you some idea. Without a folding mechanism you are quite limited to the height and width though.

If the glass can be made height-adjustable - even better.

Its definitely worth considering manufacturing in the U.S, for the moulded parts as well as the fabrication. It may even work out economical to then send a set of moulds back to the U.K.
The question is, can we agree on a common design?

Absolutely - yours!
If this is going to be viable we should minimize our options and concentrate on one design and do it properly, it's the only way to amortize effort and tooling costs reasonably?

Can the hood cover/windstop be used without the structural roll hoops? It's a good idea to settle on one design, but it would also be good to make the design such that people can choose just the roll hoops, just the bubble cover, or the cover and windstop, as fits their budget/taste.
