To main agent or not to main agent that is the question?

Postby ektrolleyboy » Wed 15.10.2008, 08:23

My car has a full LOTUS main agent history upto present.
The car has not been serviced for a couple of years (very little use in that same time period so not a major concern) and I think I'm going to get a major service B and C (cambelt) just to spruce the old girl up and make sure it drives like new.

Should I continue with the integrity of the LOTUS main agent?
Or choose Paul Matty?

I'm leaning towards Paul Matty due to their guys regularly seeing and growing up around ELANS and obviously the main agent boys are generally too young and grew up working on ELISE's. But should I keep the integrity of the main agent history?

It's not a repair job (I'd choose Matty for that) just a straight forward service, so maybe the main agent would be fine...

Help!

PM, no contest.

You've answered the question in your explanation of your mindset/concerns.
His hourly rates (while recently increased) are cheaper too.
I'd rather see a logbook full of PM stamps than some fly-by-night, now defunct Lotus franchise (Nick Whale springs to mind).

Yep, totally agree with Sy, Lotus specialists are where Elans should be serviced if you're going to use a dealer.

Although, I have to say, the customer service I have received from aftersales @ Nick Whale over the years, has been the best of any dealer in the Lotus group.

I would choose a specialist dealer over a main dealer franchise anytime. Costs and personal customer attention are the main reasons. I'm sure most on here would agree ?

Being at the bottom end of elan ownership (according to 'well-researched' LEC members  ), i would do it myself - even with the full Main dealer history i have with the car.

In your situation, it isn't such an option, so i would go with the 'independent specialist' consensus.
