Head gasket help needed

i had to replace my head gasket with a copper one, does anyone know the stock thickness of the gasket?

are you trying to make your own gasket?....
if so I would not....only because the lotus ones are good quatity and pretty cheap for what they are

I don't have experience about the copper gasket but I would say please stay away from an after market one. They are cheap piece of junk and caused me another head gasket job after few weeks of just having it serviced.

OEM gasket from Lotus or Isuzu is always a safer way to go.

I should be able to check later - I have a used and an unused one.
I'm wondering where it would be best to check it - around the pistons or from one of the sides in the "fibre-y" bit.
Just thinking that it might compress a bit.

I have a 'used' one, but not a new one - I can measure it on the same places as you, but i have both digital verniers, and a micrometer, so with my measurements, you may be able to get an accurate 'guestimate' of your new one?????

Check out the following thread...somewhere down there I measured the thickness of both an original and a replacement (from kmckmc) head gasket. And I measure both the gasket and the metal reinforcements around the cylinders.

Firstly I checked the thickness of each head gasket using my trusty micrometer...

Thickness of gasket material
- Lotus Original 1.22mm
- kmckmcs replacement 1.65mm

Thickness of "metal" bits around cylinders etc
- Lotus Original 1.35mm
- kmckmcs replacement 1.75mm
