It was the recommended book in last month's Sports & GT Car magazine. But I've not read it. With the carriage it struck me as pricey, and a lot of the cars were never imported to the USA.

Actually, if you put "Lotus Elan" in the search box, you get a lot of interesting looking results.

You can even view pages of the books. For example, I clicked on one link for a page that referenced the M100 in an Elise book, and learned....

Romano Artioli's recollection of how he picked the Elise [name] in the summer of 1994. In August 1995, he emotively commented just before the September public debut, "the car's drive and handling, acceleration and braking power, excel all comparisons -- not to mention it's safety, it's beauty. In short it is a winning model for Lotus, and it is the reason I choose to name it after the great love of my life who came into the world at the same time...Elise!" The latter was a reference to Signor Artioli's youngest grand-daughter, Elisa, a toddler who would complete the full press call unveiling at Frankfurt in September 1995, waiting patiently (and quietly) beneath the traditional covers.

I like that they didn't just name their cars random crap, like the Japanese makers all do.
