Postby Paul.P » Sat 02.05.2009, 19:32

Has anyone any experience of removing the handle & cable from the body on either of these ?

Ok it may take a while cos there's a few syles and types...

I'll start with the petrol cap early style

open the roof and rear deck

Hold them open with the battery bay cover

First remove the rear inner pannel, it sercured by Scrivets, you may break a few...

Situated towards the rear of the petrol flap assembly is the mounting point for the the wire

Release 4.jpg

Open the access door and it will release one end of the cable

Release 5.jpg

release 3.jpg

Open the passenger door you should see a nut,

Release 1.jpg

Crack and undo this nut, you shouldn't have to hold the other side

release 2.jpg

remove the nut totally, pull the T-bar handle to it's fullest extent, this should give enough room to manipulate the whole wire through..

That's the first style out...

Off to find some old photos

Early hood release

open the roof and rear deck

Hold them open with the battery bay cover

First remove the rear inner pannel, it's sercured by Scrivets, you may break a few...

The latches are situated on the left and right of the hood apperture

The easiest way is to remove the two bolts and rivets that hold each latch in place

Then crack the T-handle nut and manipulate inward, this is Quite hard thou...

The proper way is to;-

Start on the left hand latch...

Undo the lock nut

remove the R-clip

This should release the first cable

Release 6.jpg

on the same latch

release the cable grip

Release 7.jpg

Then release the cirlip and then remove lock nut

Release 8.jpg

This releases one end of the second cable...

Now move to the other latch

Remove the circlip and pop the barrel out

Release 9.jpg

Now move to the T- handle crack and undo the lock nut and manipulate the cable assy forward

And that's the early style...

Must go and do some chores, I'll be back

Later releases

open the roof and rear deck

Hold them open with the battery bay cover

Tips and tricks 1.jpg

First remove the rear inner pannel, it's sercured by Scrivets, you may break a few...

000_0002.jpg

The latches are situated in the middle

The cables are retained by a nut on the back of the T-bar handle

000_0011.jpg

The petrol cap is released as the earlier model, undo the nut and slide the whole assy out

The hood locks are the same principle

I can't find these photos... sorry

Hope all that helped...
