He had them powdercoated himself a few months ago. I had read in previous threads that Marie's been offering to polish her pipes (for a fee)

But I'm guessing they're both made from aluminium. ;-)

Matt, car looks great!

I vote black spark wire cover.

In case you forgot, I'll remind you to fill that extra hole in the intake plenum with the thingy to help hold the throttle cable in place . . .

No, 165F.

A few minor things improved. I didn't get the picture angle right on the full-view to show both the polished fuel-rail & plastic-bracket bolts, which are just under the fuel-rail bolts as you can see.

Finally, error code 41 (no engine speed source). Plainly, you can see why.

Huh? What? I have a classic brass-era pressurized accoutrement. That's all I see.

I put in a new Optima red-top battery last week. The car probably had no battery hooked-up for an hour. I think that extended no-battery time is responsible for the fantastic way the car has run ever since. A few months ago, after I reset the timing I finally disconnected the battery for a half-minute, but that is not long enough for the ECU to reset itself. I can't tell you how long the battery must be disconnected, except to say it's longer than 30-seconds and shorter than an hour.

For the entire time I've owned this car, which has been well over a year, I have thought that it simply did not run as good as the other two Elans I've owned. It now runs exactly like the other two cars did, which is a very satisfying thing.

One other battery-related thing: I took out a 40lb battery and put in a 31lb one. I don't know how light you can go, or what the longevity of lightweight batteries are, but there are 15lb units available for Miatas. You don't appreciatte the difference this makes until you've huffed a 40lb battery across your yard!

I bought a new exhaust-tip online today. I got a purely round one, inspired by the rather large one on Sh4rk. I wanted a 4" one but the one I liked best only came in 5". It has to come ground from North Dakota, so it'll be a couple of weeks before I get it on the car.

At 12" long, I'll have it cut to length & welded on.

Yep, that's going to look great on your lifted pickup. It's for a lifted pickup, right?

Yes. I try to be a classy guy but fail. I also need to work on treating others with more decorum.

This is the only portion I'm going to utilize. The muffler-body is 5.25" x 8, so the tip's 5" OD will weld fine onto the distal end of the muffler. I'll point the MBRP logo inferiorly so I can be free to keep everything clean with metal polish.
