piper fitted, thoroughly impressed with the fit, and with a 2.5" system with a front silencer is a little quieter than the peco, its hard to describe and i will post up video on youtube but essentialy its still loud but its taken the aggressive noise out, im missing the popping but my girlfriend is happy. the peco is up for sale and im open to reasonable offers, can offer a pce with it once the turbo is upgraded but it might be a while away unless i find some more cash. If theres anything your looking for let me know, i also have a turbo for sale (someone has first refusal, but im curious to know how much theyre worth and cant afford to pass up a good offer) or should i rebuild it and port the wastegate and then sell it? compomotive's are due any day now im very exited, i noticed some shocking wear on the tyres when the car was jacked up, the inside 1" on the tyres are very badly worn, im assuming this is to do with the et42 offset and the addition of 10mm spacers, i think ride and grip should improve and im quite exited. Ive got 2 major jobs to do now, one is to sort out the windows which need adjusting and the rattling sorting out, (im thinking i should take this to a specialist, unless someone thinks i can manage it and is perpared to explain or even help) then theres the new engine to fit, at the same time im looking to fit lgms turbo, s2 cables, daves shortshift, new rads and fans, samco hoses and a heater valve..... i think thats it.... no theres the o2 sensor, esm's switcher. Once the windows are sorted im going to soundproof them and install the vibe amp and speakers, the 5 1/2 speakers are already in the doors and sound very nice before ive even hooked them up to the amp, the mids and tweeters will be going where the side air vents are now and the amp i think is going in the hood stowage area, im also hoping to make custom enclosures to sit behind the seats to fit the kicker 6.5" subs into.

then i need a free paint job. lol

I think someone on LEC should start a turbo porting and recon business. You send them a new turbo. They leave a deposit and send you their old one
after fitting the new. It would save hassle of getting the port done at the same time as fitting. I think there would be a few takers. When you say your
fitting S2 cables. Do you mean the gear cables? will the S2 cables be OK with the short shift? Do you not need AB cables? A&M

I thought the nasty bit about porting was getting the thing out. Porting itself is the easy bit.

If I may be so bold, let me direct your attention to this page on the Wiki If you click on the link at the top of the page it'll give you a bit of a guide on removing, rebuilding, porting and replacing the whole lot

(It is a .pdf document, so you can save it to your own computer)

Should anyone want the port opened up and do not think they are up to it, if they bring or send the relevant part I am prepared to run a 20mm end mill cutter down the hole.
If you bring just the housing then I can do the job while you wait as it will not take very long once setup and clamped, but do not just turn up with out notice as off may offend.

yes i meant gear cables. Its my understanding it doesnt matter which cables you use with the shortshift, and as the ab cables are so dear i decided on a set of s2 cables, which are stronger than the SE's cables.

Id be happy to offer an exchange with the turbo, if someone is seriously interested.

I will have a second turbo coming up in the near future (all being well).

ok so cant do much major as i need to move the brg and i dont have enough wheels to go around, so i was looking at loki as ive got issues with my glass on both sides, long story short someone had moved the drivers side window in and it sits nicely but something was catching on the glass and marking it, it looked like a screw was causing the problem as ive had my door card off ever since and all the screw where put back it for safe keeping, so assuming it was a clearance issue i decided to remove the screw that looked responcible, its the bottom screw of the two that hold the door handle frame and the metal mouting brackets on the door skin, unfortunatley its snapped off and now the window only goes down 1cm before theres a realy nasty noise, im confused how undoing this screw could cause such a catastrophic problem, i guess my main question is just how screwed am im? ie can the broken screw be removed?

just sorting a few pics out on the turbo upgrade, as much for the fuel consumption improvment when the O2 sensor is fitted as the performance improvment.

ground to a bit of a holt because for the second time ive miss placed the studs, but im sure they'll turn up.

so finaly got the wheels and tyres on, and i must say its like putting on an old pair of slippers, very impressed, proberly due in no small part to the offset being back to normal, i was on et42 with 10mm spacers on the front and the wear on the tyres was very intersting and more than a little scary. so i now have et52 6 spoke compomotive's they feel lighter than the kahn 17" but im not sure, but i can say the wheels alone weigh 8.6kg each (without tyres). much better grip was evident straight away and the comfort is slightly better, steering weight is reduced, so all in very happy. visualy they look pretty good but strangley small. will post pics in the near future. Oh the big plus is they cleared the calipers, was very nervous until they went on. So i would recommend these to anyone looking for after market wheels, not blown away by the time it took i was told 3 weeks but was nearer 3 months, not sure if thats typical but i wasnt kept imformed so was frustrating especialy when my front tyres were blad on the inside inch.

Thanks Ray,
Im still living in the box room and still waiting for people to finish off jobs, all being well its another 3 weeks. then i can start to think about sorting out the issues on the car that have been waiting for over a year. driveshafts, engine, etc and now it sounds like my 18 month old clutch is not happy, slightly rough spinning noise when stationary in neutral which slows to a stop on depressing the clutch, suspected thrust bearing :?

It may be worth checking the cable adjustment Matt, it sounds as if the bearing is in constant contact when you would expect it to retract far enough not to be turning when stationary in neutral.
