Sump plug and washer

Postby Oliver » Sun 20.03.2005, 22:32

Possibly a bit trivial but the current Honda Civic diesel (1.7 CTDi) has an Isuzu based engine & i have found that the sump plug and washer appear identical to that fitted to the Elan.

Is the sump plug washer a dealer part or are there any additional substitutes as I cant seem to get a washer for the Elan or the Civic CTDi from local suppliers?

Thanks

Halfords HSP605 "Sump Nut and Washer Kit" fits. I've just changed my oil and tried the bolt for fit of the thread. 22mm spanner for the bolt head, same as original.

The copper washers seem to vary. The one I have on the car is fairly broad (ie the width of the metal between the inner hole and outer edge) whereas the spare I got from SJ is fairly narrow; the Halfrauds HSP605 has a washer which is in between the other two. I suppose that so long as it's copper and the hole diameter is OK you're laughing.

Lotus part number is A100E6159S 'Washer-Sump Drain Plug' which is 14mm x 20mm x 1.5mm (I/D x O/D x thickness).

It should be possible to match this size in a hardware store or available from CPC in a bag of 50 for approximately £6 that’s 12p each. Cheaper than Halfords at £1.22 or Paul Matty at £1.48 each! Mind you that’s 250 000 miles of oil changes!
