I suspect my MAP sensor may be the reason my Elan is struggling to get 20MPG and losing 50BHP.
So seeing as it has GM moulded into the casing, today I've been hunting round the scrapyards to see if any similar aged Vauxhalls use the same part.
There were loads on late Cavaliers, but the numbers moulded into them were different.

A helpful bloke from the parts dept of my local Vauxhall dealership is going to interrogate their worldwide parts system for me when he has access to it on Monday. Meanwhile, I can report that the car won't run with the standard Cavalier part!
Shame really, because a brand new one of those costs £45 + VAT.
Do you know how much the Elan MAP sensor costs? £124.74 + VAT!
They are flippin IDENTICAL!
Anyone got a spare they'd like to sell (or even lend me to eliminate the component from my enquiries)?
