Could anyone recommend a strong contact adhesive

Postby sponcom » Thu 22.10.2009, 11:48

I recently bought an elan and I'm in the process of restoring it. The previous owner has fitted a new roof but hasn't been fixed at the rear where the hood bar meets the bodywork. The roof has a seam that fold under the bar and is obviously glued there. Could anybody recommend a strong adhesive, maybe a contact adhesive for this area as it looks as though it will come under quite a bit of tension when the hood is up.

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

Any good contact adhesive will do the job, but i use bostik 2402 which is a 2-part glue designed for rubbery type materials.

I firsty used it for inflatable boat and drysuit repairs (never had a leak yet!) and then have used it on elan hoods with success.

Does anyone know where I can find a small quantity for roof reinforcing patches?

I have a section of roof fabric if you need some Geoff. Just bond it on.
