there is a used turbo in ebay, but i'm worried about the condition.
was thinking of changing to GT2554 as some of you have done, but will need to let the workshop that has more experience with turbo to make an assessment first as many parts need to be fabricated if i'm not wrong
I assume you mean the part just after the turbine which seals the exhaust side

This one is OK as the groove closest the turbine is square but can end up rounded and you will not be abe to keep the oil in hence the smoke
As for the the turbo on ebay you pay your money and take you chance but it is cheap enough then you do not lose too much and you have a good starting point for a rebuild and may save you money but its your call.
A GT2554 will still introduce more turbo lag than the current IHI turbo as the turbine is that much larger in diameter and thus the weight increase and I do not think you can off set the extra weight v ball bearing as the weight will have a bigger impact than the bearings.
BTW does this mean your engine rebuild was not really necessary?
