What would you expect in rip-off Britain  We get ripped off :( Nobody knows how it really works. That is all part off the con.

I backed this project financially and the end result has far exceeded my expectations.
When I talk with the Knox boys I will request they make another prototype.
If Knox agrees I can ship the original from my car to you or someone of your choosing
who is willing to put it through its paces. This would be in the best interest of the
Elan community.
I believe in this upgrade,it has changed the performance of my Elan better than the
larger exhaust or Everest chip.

My next track day is 3-27-11. So you can't have it yet.

Steve

Sounds awesome! :-D
How about a video of your car on track?

They make it up on the spot and if they open the box to check what is inside, then it will dissapear for a while in the customs depot and when you find it they will charge you for opening the box.

Of course the pipes expand/contract at different rates...that is why we included the flex bellows, which is how nearly all F1 motors (when turbocharged) controlled pipe expansion and prevented cracking. "Unevenly heated" i am not sure where you are going with that. Wastegate gases are considerably hotter than discharge gases (whose heat has gone a bit to spin the turbine) but again, that's why we have the bellows in there.

I think they banned Turbo chargers in F1 in the 80's.

In all the racing applications I have ever seen (Champcar / old F1), the wastegate exit is completely separate from the turbine exit, as in separate pipes that never come back together at all. They don't need to worry about exhaust noise or emissions, so there is no need to bring them back together before a cat or muffler. The McLaren you posted is operating to a completely different set of constraints than either a racecar our our cars, and it undoubtedly has a carefully and well designed turbine and wastegate housing, unlike the Elan (I doubt McLaren owners will ever have to take a Dremel to theirs). To me the Knox solution- getting those interacting flows as far away from the turbine as practical- looks right. Although exhausts (indeed engines) were never my specialty.

Some good turbo racing exhaust pics here if you're curious:

It's obvious the McLaren engine is relevant, the Race car references are not relevant to our road car at all. But like you said: "exhausts (indeed engines) were never my specialy".

I don`t mind doing a bit of testing, since i have the Stiffy fitted it`s alot easyer to remove than the old cast iron shite :-D

Mine was running at 206 bhp on a rolling road, but could do with finding a local place to do a before and after so it`s done on the same machine.

If you do send to the UK just state it`s a test piece/prototype and low value

All right, let's get back on topic! :D
Are you interested in joining the list Monty?

Piper are looking at a making a performance down pipe for Elan SE and S2 Cars.
This will include O2 sensor fitting point (and bung for non sensor cars).
This will fit cars with and without Air Con.

We are looking at 2 possible products:
NOC: To fit cars with NO Cat or eliminator (S2 completely de cat or SE).
PCE: To fit cars with a piper Pre Cat Eliminator.

1. NOC - Phil (surfboardfiller)
2. NOC - Phil (surfboardfiller)
3. NOC - Steve A, depending on results and price for an SE
4. PCE - esprit888 (LHD FED car)
5. Maybe PCE (but probably NOC!) - Pinky
6. NOC - rip
7. NOC - HJ2 (duh!) (should fit my S2, with aircon and 2,25" Piper / Peco, and include O2 bung)
8. NOC - Cliff[/quote]

There's a big difference between "not my specialty" and "I know nothing". I've sat through probably a couple hundred of hours of Powertrains lectures. Honestly, I couldn't care less what choice you make on your car. It's a warm sunny day here, I'm 20 minutes away from lightly policed mountain roads, I'm sure I can find something better to do than argue on the internet.

Add yourself just to show you are interested, its all subject to price but the longer the list the cheaper the quote.
They can't quote if they don't know how far the setup cost is spread

I was just teasing you. And I never said you know nothing so why the quotes? Pick a fight else where or go for a drive! 8)
