Hi, Aoki Magic Pants

If you don't already have a PCE then I think you are better off with an NOC version.

Where does the Peco start Nic? Is it at the end of the Pre Cat/Bottle?

Ah right, I see. So if I get the NOC version then it'd just be a case of removing my existing S2 pre-cat and connecting it to my Piper exhaust?

Looks like Billy and Steve has led to some inspiration!

Interesting to see this development, as Piper has been asked to make a down pipe in the past, when they were developing their exhausts and PCE, but said it would not be economically viable, so they declined! (The fifth post Piper wrote on this link)

viewtopic.php?f=85&t=13283&hilit=piper+downpipe&start=120

As I stated on the other thread, I have looked into an alternative down pipe for some time, lots of knowledgeable people asked, with lots of different answers, but the advice I would take the most notice of, would be all those people who have actually done work with good results, as opposed to theory.

Don’t we already have this with knox’s design? Billy seems to have done his research and development, beautifully crafted and race proven with Steve in the real world, not to mention rolling road figures which put this upgrade above my efforts with the modified turbo.

And wasn’t he going to offer a production run?

Not that I am not applauding Phill’s efforts and enthusiasm and determination to develop the best, but if Billy was to produce his creation at a reasonable price, I always favour the tried and tested. I would even be willing to pay the extra for a one off, if Steve would let him replicate this from his prototype and see if it will fit my (British) car....the Piper exhausts are universal so it’s a good bet that it should.

As far as profit, I personally understand that a business needs to make money, as opposed to enthusiasts who are in it for the glory, certainly if Piper go ahead, they will be looking to make a profit! The only time I get fed up is when the profits are at a rip off, you know, like about 100% of what we buy in the U.K!

I would certainly add my name to the list, though, if Billy isn’t interested.
Power is nothing without control!
“Adding power makes you faster on the straights, subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.” Colin Chapman....is it asking too much to have both?!

Re: Piper Exhaust Down Pipe

Postby surfboardfiller » Fri 01.04.2011, 12:58

Here are some facts:

It was Rips review of the piper that inspired this and the fact there was no down pipe in their replacement exhaust system, your therad was the main inspiration for my upgrade as it's exactly what I want for my long term project track car. Billys work looks good from the review by Steve, but the need for a new down pipe came from the old thread you linked to and all I can say to that is the time has come to finish the Piper exhaust.

I want a down pipe and asked Piper to make me one. (Just like I got a roll cage built, custom wheels, brakes, seat runners, fueltank, fuel system, in fact not much original on my car, bar the chassis and engine.)

This happened way before Billy was talking about making more and way before this thread started, I don't know if Billy has got a product to sell yet but I am committed to Piper, they know what they are doing and they are here.

There was not much interest before as people didn't know the piper exhaust was going to be so brilliant, now we do and Piper have a lot of customers who bought their exhaust outside LEC who will want the down pipe.

Piper are developing a down pipe to complete their exhaust product for the Lotus Elan Turbo

Piper have a world renowned reputation for quality and performance, they offer a gauruntee and fast turn arround very hard to match by a fabricator

Piper are a manufacturer and their price is lower than the ones quoted by anyone else mentioned on the related threads

Piper are gas flow experts, they built the best performance value for mony exhaust in 20 years of the Elan Turbo

If you want to shop arround feel free to buy where ever you want but this thread is a register of interest for Piper down pipe.

The development is happenin and Its a very positive thing!
